Late Friday afternoon in an eagerly anticipated announcement made jointly by the President of the university, J. Harper Andrews and Academic Director Dr. Dennis Globosky, details of the new “Academic and Educational Initiative” were released.. “It’s been 3 years in the making” said Andrews, “but we believe it’s going to be worth the wait”. The new initiative consists primarily of the addition of 32 new degree programs for adult learners who don’t have time for classrooms. “The university has always provided a significant number of college degrees on all levels” remarked Globosky, “now we have increased the total number of degree program offerings to 168”. This number is up from 136 Associates, Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral degree programs offered in 2000.”
“Our goal” continued Andrews, “was ultimately to be useful to the greatest number of people, both here in the U.S. and abroad, and provide the highest level of personalization and academic excellence to our students. With staff increases and these new offerings we have done that."

What does education, (perhaps your college degree) and the "End Of The World" have to do with each other? Everything! Nothing new you say, doomsday prophets have been around since...well about as long as humankind has existed, but please check out this link! (Flash Movie) End of the world
Cute toon…did you check it out? Although I am the head of this University please realize this is not pedantic pontification…this is an EDITORIAL, these are my opinions.
All racial, religious and national ‘bigotry-prejudices’ spring from ignorance. Education or knowledge is the antithesis of this ignorance. The right use of this knowledge is wisdom. Knowledge and wisdom eventually lead to an expansion of consciousness and mental growth, which is a prerequisite for becoming compassionate responsible human beings.
Wise, responsible, compassionate human beings will draw the inevitable conclusion and know that we are all: ‘One-Humanity-as-a-whole-with-the-Planet.’ The salvation of our world is OUR responsibility and depends entirely upon the extent to which we utilize our knowledge or wisdom in applying and cultivating the principles of Goodwill and Right Human Relations on a global scale.
Cooperation towards this goal is, and always has been the foundation of the philosophical underpinnings of the University of Berkley. Join us. Fight Ignorance. Save the world.
